Hair Bow Tutorial

All you need is faux leather and alligator clips to make these hair bows.  If you’d like to add a little bit of sparkle to the bows, the glitter material is made out of stretched canvas.

I was able to find all of these materials at our local craft store, Hobby Lobby.  The glitter canvas and faux leather is made by the Ribbon Boutique and is exclusive at Hobby Lobby.  You can find it by following the link below and searching for “Glitter Canvas Ribbon” and “faux leather ribbon”.

I have also used other materials such as felt and vinyl.  The biggest thing you need to look for in material is that the edge will not fray once you cut it.

Step 1:

Download the pattern and cut out each of the three shapes.  Trace the patterns of the bow onto the faux leather. Cut out each shape.  Be careful when cutting to cut inside of the line, so the lines do not show on the bows.

Step 2:

Using a hot glue gun, glue the sides of shape 1 from the pattern down in the middle. [amazon_link asins=’B073GN8WRF,B01ERYSRM2,B01N7DOOGX,B01FMEEYLE,B06XCGH232′ template=’ProductCarousel’ store=’jessiekdesign-20′ marketplace=’US’ link_id=’1d32115d-b377-11e7-be46-31cccb9d297b’]

Step 3:

Glue a line that is approximately about 1/2″ wide across shape 2 of the pattern.  Attach the backside of shape 1 to shape 2.

Place a drop of glue in the middle of the bow.  Attach shape 3 to the middle of the bow.  Flip the bow to the back and glue down the edges.  Depending on how thick your material is, you might need to trim the edges so that it hides underneath the bow.

Glue an alligator clip to the back of the hair bow.  Be very generous with glue.
